Hearing Aids (RIC)

As the name indicated, in this style, the receiver (loudspeaker) is located inside the ear canal and connected via a very thin, barely visible, wire to the main BTE like hearing aid unit.

The placement of the receiver into the ear canal provides unique acoustic and cosmetics Advantages.

RIC’s are the preferred choice in any fitting where an open fit is desired. In an open fit the ear canal is left as open as possible so certain sounds can enter the ear naturally, while others are being added by the hearing aids.

By combining the receiver in the canal with a custom made receiver shell unique acoustic properties are combined with superior power and cosmetics.

Often the best solution and a good compromise of Behind The Ear (BTE) technology and custom made discretion. Receiver In Canal (RIC) hearing aids typically are very small so even if located outside behind the ear they are barely visible, especially if the housing colour bands are matched to hair color or skin tone.
